Campbell County - Public Safety Director 

Campbell County is seeking a forward-thinking, organized and motivated Public Safety Director with excellent management skills to oversee a comprehensive Public Safety program for the County.  The Public Safety Director ensures the effective delivery of animal control, communications, emergency management, emergency medical and fire services to the public in a combination volunteer/career system.  The position manages and directs a County Department and is responsible for preparation of operational and capital budgets; carrying out supervisory responsibilities; maintaining positive working relationships with volunteer providers; and developing and implementing an overall set of goals for Public Safety services consistent with policies adopted by the County.  This position serves as the Emergency Program Manager and Coordinator of Emergency Services, is the primary point of contact for the County’s emergency services related committees, and serves as Emergency Operations Group chief when the Emergency Operations Center is activated during emergencies.  The ideal candidate will have: a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Public Safety operations; considerable management and public relations skills, including grant writing, budget preparation, and report writing; and extensive experience in fire, EMS/rescue operations and incident command. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, no less than five (5) years experience, and  no less than three (3) years supervisory experience; Firefighter II,  HAZMAT Operations, NIMS, and EMT-B certification. 

 Salary Range: Dependent upon qualifications and experience. An excellent benefit package is provided.

FIRE MEDIC

Continuous Recruitment 

The City of Fairfax Department of Fire & Rescue Services is accepting applications to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future vacancies for Fire Medic positions. 

DUTIES:                                Performs technical work in fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, and public life safety education.  These duties include driving and operating fire and EMS technical equipment.  Duties are often performed under stress and in a variety of hazardous work conditions.  Performs other duties as assigned.  Employees in this class may be assigned to work rotating shifts or a straight day work schedule, as required.

MINIMUM                                            

QUALIFICATIONS:     1)     Must be at least 21 years of age.

                                            2)     Minimum of 2 years of fire and EMS experience.

3)      Applicants must be currently certified at the following levels:

i      NFPA Fire Fighter II

i      Emergency Medical Technician – Cardiac or Paramedic

i      Hazardous Materials – Operations Level

i      Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC) 

Copies of current technical certifications must be attached to the City of Fairfax job application at the time of submission. 

Candidates chosen to participate in the selection process will be required to pass a written examination for technical knowledge, a work performance test for technical skill, physical strength and stamina and an oral interview. 

Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must pass a job-related physical examination, polygraph examination and a comprehensive background investigation.  Fire and Rescue employees are required to sign an employment agreement that includes a non-tobacco use clause.  All employees must possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license and good driving record.

Firefighter/Medic

eligibility list for Firefighter/Medic positions with the Newport News Fire
Department. Applicants are required to complete an application, written
test, fitness/performance test, initial interview, background investigation,
polygraph test, job-related physical exam, sign a no-tobacco use agreement,
and possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Qualifications: 21 years of age and possess high school diploma or
equivalent. Experience and certifications are not required but preferred.

EMS TRAINING SPECIALIST

CITY OF ROANOKE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE-EMS

The City of Roanoke, Department of Fire-EMS has an opening for an EMS Training Specialist. Responsibilities include but not limited to teaching and coordinating basic, advanced life support and auxiliary (ACLS, PHTLS, Etc) training programs for department personnel, maintain and monitor training records and certification, establish and maintain facility site accreditation as outline by the State Department of Health, develop and maintain agreements/contracts relative to EMS training. Additionally, the position will serve as the department EMS Quality Assurance Officer and occasionally precept EMT-I and EMT-P students in field externship. Certification, Education and Experience Requirements:

• National Registered EMT-Paramedic

• Virginia EMT-B Instructor or obtain within 6 months of employment

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor

• Virginia Advanced Life Support Coordinator

• Valid Virginia Drivers License with good driving record

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Applicants must have extensive experienced in teaching and coordinating EMS training programs.

Starting Salary: $38,802.82 w/full benefits

The Waynesboro First Aid Crew is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Career EMS Provider. Interested candidates must have the following minimum certifications; Commonwealth of Virginia EMT Basic, Professional Rescuer CPR, EVOC Class 2, Valid Virginia Drivers License, High School Diploma, Clean Criminal History, Clean Driving Record, and pass a Drug Screening prior to starting employment. Candidates must also be able to work interactively with volunteers and be willing to be flexible with scheduling to meet the needs of the agency. Interviews and testing will be done on December 5, 2009.
