eligibility list for Firefighter/Medic positions with the Newport News Fire
Department. Applicants are required to complete an application, written

Madison County Department of
Emergency Medical Services currently has Full-Time &
Part-Time openings for
Emergency Medical Technician
– Intermediate or Paramedic. This
position requires the following: CPR, EVOC 3, Vehicle
Extrication, Hazmat Awareness, ACLS, ITLS or PHTLS,
and Valid Virginia Drivers License. Firefighter I,
PALS, and at least two years of ALS experience are
recommended. Position requires you to be released in
your council as an EMT – Intermediate or Paramedic and
become released with Madison County EMS Operational
Medical Director within one month of hire.
Salary Range: $16.50 -
$18.00 Hourly* Part-Time
Salary
Range: $31,560 - $33,160 Annual*
Full-Time
*Salary will be based on
experience and meeting all minimum requirements.

EMS TRAINING SPECIALIST
CITY OF
ROANOKE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE-EMS
The City of Roanoke, Department of Fire-EMS has an
opening for an EMS Training Specialist.
Responsibilities include but not limited to teaching
and coordinating basic, advanced life support and
auxiliary (ACLS, PHTLS, Etc) training programs for
department personnel, maintain and monitor training
records and certification, establish and maintain
facility site accreditation as outline by the State
Department of Health, develop and maintain
agreements/contracts relative to EMS training.
Additionally, the position will serve as the
department EMS Quality Assurance Officer and
occasionally precept EMT-I and EMT-P students in field
externship. Certification, Education and Experience
Requirements:

DEPUTY CHIEF - DEPARTMENT OF FIRE &
RESCUE
Resumes and/or applications are
being accepted for the position of Deputy Chief for
Rockingham County’s Department of Fire and Rescue.
This position’s primary duty is to serve as the
principal assistant to the Chief of Fire and Rescue
in the day to day operations of the department and
to provide direct supervision of all employees in
the absence of the Chief.
The Deputy Chief receives and
responds to requests for service and information,
provides technical assistance to County agencies,
volunteer fire and EMS agencies and to the general
public. This position administers department
General Orders, and assists the Chief with budget
preparation and special projects. The Deputy Chief
will respond to emergency calls and serve in
whatever capacity needed from incident commander to
sector officer. This position is responsible for
issuing all personal protective equipment and
uniforms including recommending purchases,
maintenance of records and tracking the location of
equipment. You will serve as Deputy Hazardous
Materials Officer by responding to incidents,
coordinating clean-up, ensuring that team members
and equipment meet standards, providing technical
assistance to business and industry, completing all
necessary documents , and fulfilling all other legal
obligations. The Deputy Chief represents the
department at meetings in the absence of the Chief,
and serves as Deputy Emergency Management
Coordinator.
To be considered for this
position you should have experience or education in
the management of fire and EMS services. A two year
degree in related fields of study is preferred. A
working knowledge of computer and business software
is necessary. Other recommended certifications
include but is not limited to NFPA 1021 Officer
Level II or equivalent training and Hazardous
Materials Technician or Specialist. EMT-B and EVOC
certifications are required. A valid Virginia
driver’s license is also required. Salary is
commensurate with experience and training.
